Oils and pencils are my choice of medium. The pencil work is on fine quality smooth surface heavy weight paper or Bristol board . The paper is Winsor and Newton but imported from the UK. I work in A4 or A2 size at the moment . The oils are on treated canvas and in a range of sizes .

My subject matter includes local horsemen such Steve Houston from Ruapuna, high country musterers from Mesoptamia, top dressage riders from the UK and NZ , Clydesdales from the ploughing championships, the renowned Cotebrook Shire Horses and local event riders and competitors. I have been fortunate enough to have accessed images from Antonia Steeg and Annie Studholm but the majority are my own or clients. I have been lucky enough to have attended courses and recieved help and advice from John Badcock. Even luckier still I have painted with Austen Deans at some ungodly time in the morning somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. I have also attended summer school courses with the fantastic illustrator, David Elliot and caricaturist Dwilys Maggs. |
